I am currently in a Bible Study called ” Kicking Fear to the Curb”  We have covered many words this week, and challenged to blog about the one word that spoke to us the most, why it spoke to us, and how would that word help us kick our fears.  Out of all of them we studied this week, the word TRUST spoke to me.

“Trust.” Merriam-Webster, n.d. Web. 30 Aug. 2014.    <;.

a :  assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something

b :  one in which confidence is placed

As I looked at that definition, I thought about my assured or confident reliance on God’s strength, and His ability.  That is what trust is all about for me – believing, assured, and confident in knowing that He has the ability and strength to carry me through all things.

I got to thinking about when life is knocking us down and just really hard and tough, or when I am afraid and full of fear, where do I turn.  For me, I turn to prayer.  I find no matter how I am struggling that prayer or delving into my Bible always helps.  Did I always do that – NO!  Now, I can open my Bible, and I can feel God’s presence leading me to open a page and read.  I remember one time when my Dad was taken to the hospital and it was icy.  I was called at 2 A.M. and could not go in the ice.  I sit there sobbing and grabbed my Bible.  This was the verse that I first laid my eyes on,  “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning” Proverbs 30.5(b).

I searched verses this week with the words, and browsed through commentaries, and this is one that spoke to my heart.

  Blog-Proverbs 35-6

Bruce Waltke, in his Proverbs commentary translates the first verse of 6 as “in all your ways desire his presence”.  The NIV version of the verse 6 reads, “in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  I love that, and am reminded that I need to seek His will ALWAYS, and desire His presence no matter what I am going through – all things.

Whole-hearted trust in the Lord no matter what fear may come my way and “desiring His presence” in all things – ALWAYS.

Blog - Psalm 39.4

Our days here on earth are numbered and what we do with it is important.  How do you spend your days?  How do you manage time?  Honestly, some days I know I have not honored God in my time management.

Blog-Psalm 9012

Cherish today, cherish those around you.  We are not promised tomorrow.

Time is precious, a precious gift from the Father.  Praise Him that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Reach – Five Minute Friday

29 Aug

Today is Five Minute Friday and the word is reach.  I was reminded of a blog I wrote earlier this year when my husband, on my birthday, drove me by a field of sunflowers.  Heres’s that blog and I’m grabbing a few lines from it because it is longer than five minutes (Lessons From Sunflowers).

Look at this sunflower reaching above all the others.

Blog - Psalm 3.3 sunflowers

I got so excited seeing it and a couple of others reaching up taller than the rest of the field.  That is how God wants us to be – different, reaching towards Him with our heads lifted up.

He created us to always turn towards the light – to keep our eyes focused on Him.  All day we should be focused on the light  – just like the sunflowers

Sunflowers need the sun, I need the son.  Walk in the Light!

bLOG-1 jOHN 1.7

I am reminded of that song – Your Love Lord Reaches to the Heavens.
