#write31Days – Welcoming Beautiful, Glorious Autumn

30 Sep

PicMonkey Collage

HAPPY Fall Y’all  and so glad you are joining me in 31 Days of Welcoming Beautiful, Glorious Autumn.  Isn’t it spectacularly awesome this time of the year – the sunrises, the sunsets, the leaves, those cold baby noses and eskimo nose kisses from one of our grandsons,  and all that goes with Fall and how about that beautiful moon eclipse this week?  It’s almost time for warm gloves and beautiful scarves, but usually not coats here in Texas.  One thing I have to confess – I love flip flops and shorts in the summer, but not those 100 degree temperatures.

I took the challenge from the  #write31Days Challenge and Kate Matoung to write about a topic for 31 days beginning on October  1.  Since Fall is my favorite season, how could I not choose that?  From the first day of Fall until New Year’s Day, I love all the beauty, the smells, the yummy cooking, and special moments with family and friends and church.  I can’t wait to see what God places on my heart to write about each day.

I plan to share decorating around my house, Bible verses, recipes, traditions, activities, possibly a drive in East Texas to see the leaves (shhh if I can talk my hubby into it – a please should do it), yummy coffee, and I just don’t know what all right now.

I am absolutely overcome with nostalgia thinking about Fall. September 23 was the first day of Fall, but here in Texas it was still 90 degrees and sunny.  Our falls are beautiful in the form of weather.  The trees are pretty, but I am sure nothing like some of you experience up North, but we will see how East Texas compares.  TODAY it has finally dipped down to a high in the 80s on October 1, 2015.

Go outside and see the beauty of Autumn today.

I hope you will join me for the next 31 days.

PROVERBS 15:3 – HE SEES ME – EL ROI

27 Sep

Blog- His Eyes

S: SCRIPTURE

Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” NIV

O: OBSERVATION

Psalm 139:2 tells us He knows when we sit down and lie down.

Job 34:21 says that His eyes are on the ways of man; he sees their every step.

God’s eyes are truly everywhere watching each of us and all that is going on in the World.   We are ALWAYS on His mind. He is there every moment through our bad and our good times. Absolutely nothing is hidden from Him.  He even knows the hairs on our head.   Truly, our lives are like a blank check.  We can spend them as we like.

Genesis 6:5-7  (ESV)  “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.”

As I read over the verse above, I wonder if the Lord has ever regretted creating me or what He thinks of this World today.  That breaks my heart.  We are to be of this World but not of the World.  How often we let the World suck us in.  He is holy.  He hates sin.  When will He say enough is enough?

A: APPLICATION

My life is an open book.  He knows everything that is going on with me.  He is longing for me to sit at His feet and talk about it.  He sees me when I’m victorious.  He sees me when I am struggling or discouraged. He sees me when I sin because I do in some way probably every single day.  I am so glad He sees all of me all of the time.  I am so thankful for His grace and mercy and love no matter what I’ve done.

K: KNEELING IN PRAYER

Lord, strengthen my faith as you see me, know me and walk with me each day.  Thank you for leaning down to hear my prayers and for being here with me every moment.  AMEN!

CELEBRATE

19 Sep

neh-810

“The secret to joy is to keep seeking God where we doubt he is.”  Ann Voskamp

As I walk through every single day of my life I realize no matter what is happening there is always, always something to celebrate – always something I can find to be thankful about.

I’ve learned even when walking through horrible tragedies that I can find something to thank God for.  The day my Mom died unexpectedly after many years of illness, we sit there waiting on the funeral home to arrive and my husband said, “your Mom will be spending Valentine’s Day with your Dad”.  It was only five days until Valentine’s Day – one I didn’t celebrate as Valentine’s Day, but one I was celebrating because Mom was no longer suffering and she was with Dad who she had never been able to move on after he died.

Even when we are walking through horrible tragedies  we can find something.  The day one of our grandsons was born with a horrible disease, we were able to thank God for answering prayers as we drove to the Children’s Hospital to be with him and our son.  Thankful that they had a doctor who knew what it was and was able to diagnose it.  Thankful for family, friends and churches that gathered with us in prayer.

I want to celebrate every day.  I want to celebrate the little things and give them the attention they deserve.  Things like my 7-month old grandson crawling, and my 2 year old grandson shouting across a pond while his Pa Pa was hunting.  Yep, he was shouting PaPa while PaPa was hunting birds.  And today watching him help PaPa make homemade ice cream and helping, and squealing as he filled a glass up with ice throwing it in the ice cream freezer.  All of it precious and something to celebrate, especially after you been through seasons of miscarriage, infertility, and watching that 2-year old suffer at birth with a rare disease.

I’m celebrating today.  How about you? I am celebrating because He blesses me far more than I will ever deserve and He loves me unconditionally.  I am celebrating good health.  I am celebrating family.   I am celebrating life.  I am celebrating today because there may not be a tomorrow.  Seek God today wherever you may be doubting and find the joy.

Joining Kate Matoung today at Five-Minute Friday.

PROVERBS 14:13 – MIXED EMOTIONS

17 Sep

blog-mixed emotions

S:  SCRIPTURE

Proverbs 14:13 (NLT) Laughter can conceal a heavy heart, but when the laughter ends, the grief remains.

O:  OBSERVATION

Sometimes a person’s heart is heavy and they are concealing it.  That grief is there even when they stop laughing.  Sometimes we can be going through the pain of a death, but at the same time there is joy and celebration with a birth, and they are both happening at once.  Sometimes we are experiencing the joy of a birth, and dealing with the pain of the baby being born with serious medical conditions.  Sometimes the hurt can be masked behind that smile.

A:  APPLICATION

Many people are laughing on the outside, but crying and hurting on the inside.  I need to be a woman who cares enough and empathizes enough to discern others are hurting even though they don’t show it or share it.   When I ask how are you feeling, I need to really mean it.   I need to be a person who cares and listens and understands the hurts and frustrations that others are carrying around.  We all need to be honest in our feelings – laughing joyfully when it’s time to laugh, crying hard when it’s time to cry.  Cherish the joy.  Don’t let anyone or anything steal the joy of your Savior.  There will be tears and there will be joy.  Laughter and heartache do co-exist at times, but we should always be joyful because He lives.

K:  KNEELING IN PRAYER

Lord my I be a person who has open arms, a shoulder to cry on and an ear to hear to those whose hearts are heavy.  In your name I pray.  AMEN!

PROVERBS 13:13 – ADORING THE WORD

9 Sep

S:  SCRIPTURE

Blog Prov 1313

O:  Observation

It seems there are so many who despise the Word today, or perhaps it is because we are more in touch with those who don’t believe in Jesus or the Word because of the news and technology.  We have to obey God’s Word.  Only then will we realize real freedom.  The World right now thinks freedom is doing whatever we want to make us happy.  It’s a me, me, me world and everything goes.  This verse reminds us that those who despise the Word will be destroyed, and that breaks my heart.

A:  Application

I was created in the image of God and I have to walk in His Word.   He knows me by name.  His eyes are all over me.  He knows my heart just as He knows all the stars and birds.  He knows my tears and knows me better than myself.  How can I not stay in the Word daily.

K:  Kneeling in Prayer

Father thank You that You have provided the written Word, that we might have a guidebook to follow.  I pray You continue to create in me and my family and generations to come a desire to dig deeper in Your Word, and a longing to memorize scripture and write in the margins of our Bibles highlighting those things that You show us.  In Your most holy, holy name I pray.  Amen.
