#write31days – DAY 31 – AUTUMN WELCOME NOVEMBER and COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS

31 Oct

joy countdown

It’s the last day of October, the last day of #write31days and I have to admit it has been hard blogging every single day this month.

You know what the last day of October means.  It means Thanksgiving is only four weeks away and Christmas is eight weeks.  WOW!  Where did this year go?

Tonight is Halloween and yes our porch light will be on and our door open to pass out candy and some cutesy little coloring pages with pumpkins on them and a Bible verse telling the Jesus loves them and He is the light of the World. I have done similar things previous years but usually cards and may print some of those in a bit. I did this last year and wrote about it here.  It’s a hard decision to make as a Christian, and for me it’s a time to meet my neighbors and it’s a time to share God with someone who may never hear about Him.  Our grandsons will be over – one will be wearing a little leopard costume my Mom made 34 years ago for my son.  Neither will be dressed in evil costumes.  The years I have carved a pumpkin it has had a cross lit up in it when people arrive.  Granted in my neighborhood the treaters are few because we are out in the country.

And you know what else is about to happen today?  The Hallmark channel is starting their Christmas movies.  The DVR is on and ready to record and I’ll be watching movies for weeks after Christmas since my hubby doesn’t love them like I do.

And tonight we set our clocks back.  Now that’s one thing I don’t look forward to.

#write31days – DAY 30 – AUTUMN COZY DAYS AND A GOOD BOOK

30 Oct

I love this time of the year.  It’s just relaxing isn’t it?  At least it is here in Texas.  We aren’t having to mow much anymore on this acre and a half, and the flower beds aren’t haven’t to be tended to, and well there is some time to read a book.  I read my Bible every day, and most days I am in an on-line Bible study or a study at church.  Sometimes I just want to grab a good novel or suspense Christian book so I’ve been looking through the bookshelves to choose from so many I bought when I retired and haven’t had time to read.

I love getting in a big comfy chair with a blanket in my sweatshirts and sitting by the fireplace reading.  I love fall more than winter because well in the winter I just can’t get warm.  Being born and raised in Texas will do that to a girl.

Coffee and book are quiet the combination this time of the year.  How can you resist pumpkin spice or gingerbread creamers for your coffee?

Right now I am going thru a study at church called The Battle Plan for Prayer.  IMG_3827[1] and next week on November 2 we are starting an on-line Bible study with Proverbs 31 called Unglued.  Unglued: Making Wise Choices in the Midst of Raw Emotions - By: Lysa TerKeurst

There is still time to sign up if you are interested in that one.  You can do that here.

I love on-line Bible studies.  I have met so many women through them not only on-line but for lunch, for coffee, for a retreat.  My life has been blessed so very much through them

During the Fall/Winter I hope to read a few books by Terri Blackstock, a Christian suspense author.  Can’t wait.  I picked up a number of her series of books when I retired.  I also have some Christian Christmas novels to read, and I recently got  the book Fervent that I’m about to start.

I have a bookcase of books I’m just wanting to delve into.  Looking forward to more rainy days and time at home to enjoy and cozy up with these books.

#write31days – DAY 29 – AUTUMN LEAVES

Blog - Fall tree

I love all the trees this time of year, and yes, I love leaves except for those that blow in the pool.

I really want to take a Fall trip to look at trees, but you know here in Texas we have to wait until November so those pictures are not going to make it for the 31 day posts.  BOO!

Some leaf quotes:

“It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.”  Sarah Addison Allen First Frost
“The leaves lay like hands upon the ground. When the wind rustles them, they applaud softly”.

“Autumn is the hardest season.  The leaves are all falling, and they’re falling like they’re falling in love with the ground.”  Andrea Gibson

#write31days – DAY 28 – AUTUMN THANKFUL BIBLE VERSES

28 Oct

thankful

Are you thankful today for God’s beautiful treasures?  I think of just the treasure of waking up every single morning and saying, “Good morning Lord.”  I love the treasure of prayer that He gave us so that we could communicate, and I have to admit I don’t use it as much as I should.  I do pray in the morning and the evening, and all through the day when someone comes to mind or as I’m doing housework thanking Him for my family and all He’s given us.  I find myself when I’m at school subbing praying as I sit and watch the children work.

I am thankful for this beautiful Fall season.  I am thankful for all seasons and love being in a state where we see seasons, but they don’t last long.  It can be in the 20s one day and the 70s the next.  You can’t beat that.  I love seeing the winds blowing some days right now, but not everyday.  I love watching the leaves falling and blowing across the yard and the trees just starting to change.  In Texas we don’t see those beautiful colors until November, but they are starting and I enjoyed driving to pick up my grandson today and seeing some of those changes.

As I reflected this evening on things I am thankful for, I wanted to stop and look up some Bible verses to write down about thankfulness so here they are.  I hope you enjoy them.

Psalm 95:2 (KJV) – Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Psalm 100:4 (KJV) – Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Psalm 105:1 (KJV) – O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

Psalm 107:1 (KJV) –  O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Colossians 3:15 (KJV) -And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) – In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Ephesians 5:20 (KJV) –  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Philippians 4:6 (KJV) –  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

2 Corinthians 9:15 (KJV) – Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Philemon 1:4 (KJV) –  I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,

#write31days – DAY 27 – AUTUMN SMALL ACTS OF LOVE AND NOTES FOR YOUR HUSBAND

27 Oct

We get so, so busy with life, children, parents, church and everything else that sometimes we ignore our husbands unintentionally, but they need to be reminded of how important they are so I have come up with some suggestions that are simple and that I have used and continue to use.

How simple is it to just grab a sticky note and hide it somewhere like a drawer, on his pillow, on his steering wheel, shower, or his favorite recliner?  Just hide it somewhere that is easy to find.  I just put one in my hubby’s underwear drawer right on top that says, “Thank you for being such an awesome husband, daddy, and PaPa.  I love how you love our family.”

Send him a text.  Flirt like you did when you were dating. Tell him you can’t wait for him to get home.  I’ve even put a simple handwritten sign on our door that said, “Welcome home”.  Or when he walks in the door, say “I’m glad you are home.”

Remember to thank him.  If his gift is service that is so important, and my husband’s is.  Last week wen went on an errand and on the way back he said how about something from Sonic.  We pulled in, had a Sonic blast and I said, “Thank you, this is just like a date night.”

Here are some notes I made one Valentine’s Day that are still good today that you can print out.

And I’ve created these with an Autumn theme for you to use right now.
