Do you love grilled cheese sandwiches? I do. After I got married, my mother-in-law taught me a new way to make them. Mom always toasted them in the oven, but my mother-in-law would take the bread and butter it and add the cheese and cook them in a skillet with a little more butter in it. Just cook them on each side for about 3 min on medium heat. Love them. Along with them she would add to the plate some plain ole’ ranch style beans. YUM!
So yesterday I tried them with rye bread rather than white, wheat, or gluten free. I also used low fat butter and 2% american cheese.
I loved it.
The picture is not so beautiful, but oh the taste was so, so good. I will be using rye again, and I didn’t need beans to top it off. It was just good by itself.
