Encouragement, Faith

Are you thankful today for God’s beautiful treasures?  I think of just the treasure of waking up every single morning and saying, “Good morning Lord.”  I love the treasure of prayer that He gave us so that we could communicate, and I have to admit I don’t use it as much as I should.  I do pray in the morning and the evening, and all through the day when someone comes to mind or as I’m doing housework thanking Him for my family and all He’s given us.  I find myself when I’m at school subbing praying as I sit and watch the children work.

I am thankful for this beautiful Fall season.  I am thankful for all seasons and love being in a state where we see seasons, but they don’t last long.  It can be in the 20s one day and the 70s the next.  You can’t beat that.  I love seeing the winds blowing some days right now, but not everyday.  I love watching the leaves falling and blowing across the yard and the trees just starting to change.  In Texas we don’t see those beautiful colors until November, but they are starting and I enjoyed driving to pick up my grandson today and seeing some of those changes.

As I reflected this evening on things I am thankful for, I wanted to stop and look up some Bible verses to write down about thankfulness so here they are.  I hope you enjoy them.

Psalm 95:2 (KJV) – Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Psalm 100:4 (KJV) – Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Psalm 105:1 (KJV) – O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

Psalm 107:1 (KJV) –  O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Colossians 3:15 (KJV) -And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) – In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Ephesians 5:20 (KJV) –  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Philippians 4:6 (KJV) –  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

2 Corinthians 9:15 (KJV) – Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Philemon 1:4 (KJV) –  I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,

  1. Beautiful encouragement. I want to be better at simply thanking . . . especially in ALL circumstances. Not for, but in. Thanking Him that no matter what is going on He is present, loving, and forgiving. His grace really is sufficient. Blessings!

  2. I admit I have a difficult time being thankful. My illness keeps me bogged down so much of the time, I have to make an attentive effort to find the good things. I am much better than I used to be. I appreciate this post because it gives great scriptures and tips on gratitude which helps me be more focused. Visiting from Small Victories Sunday Link Up today! Be blessed!

  3. I love these beautiful verses you shared!! One of my favorite verses that helps me be thankful (or at least have perspective in hard times) is Ecc. 3:11.

I am hosting a link up on my blog where people post anything that was happy for them in the month. You should totally sign up because this definitely applies! ♥

  4. I’ve just started a #100happydays and it is so good to find happiness in each day. Thank you for sharing your #write31days with us at #AnythingGoes.

  5. Thankfulness is contagious!! 😉 Thanks for sharing yours. It is so hard not to utter gratitude when we walk out of doors and see the trees living their praise in glorious surrender.

  6. So appreciate you sharing your thankfulness list/verses here. It is a discipline I have been working on intentionally for the last 4 years… And it is now starting to transcend into even the hard stuff of my life. Praise Him– and give thanks!
