This is my Day 28 post for the #write31days October challenge. Well, it’s November 5 and so many things happened in October I got a little behind – well, a lot behind – but in God’s timing I’m never behind. Had I been on time I would have missed the verse that jumped out at me at church last Sunday which was day 30. Perfect timing to prick my heart.
The word is eat and for someone who loves to eat this one is a challenge because I know what to eat, how much to eat, but I don’t practice what I know. I also know I need to exercise, but life gets in the way, and it’s not a priority like watching my grandchildren, Bible study, subbing and blogging. I know I could make more time but honestly I DO NOT! Ever been there? Excuses like I don’t have time, I’m too tired, it’s too hot or too cold or raining so I can’t walk, and lately the allergies have been so bad I’ve been afraid to go out and walk with all the pollen. With an unusually record setting hot October we have not had cooler temperatures, and we sure have not had a freeze to get rid of the pollen in the air.
I’m working on my weight. It’s slow because it seems the more I try the harder it gets or life happens and I’m not home to eat healthy, nor to exercise and if I am home there is so much to do with housework, yard work, my studies and my writing or recently the allergies with all the coughing and even fever.
Last Sunday at church during our Bible study class as we were flipping pages to different verses and whoa – this stood out at me talking about different crowns. I have no more to say about eating. Actually 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 talks about striving for a crown so I read the whole thing, but this one hits home:
The Women’s Study Bible (NKJV) – 1 Corinthians 9:27 – “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”
Things I need to remember:
I am in control of disciplining my body.
I need to be persistent in my food choices in moderation
I need to be more active every day even if it is only for ten minutes.
This picture was taken at our friend Tammy Simmons Rodriguez wedding. Aren’t the tables beautiful? The food was so, so good.
This post is part of the #write31 day challenge.
