Love this verse.
“If my people which are called by my name” – Although this message was spoken to the Israel nation, I truly believe that it can apply to us as a Christian nation. If my people (Christians).
“shall humble (get low) themselves” . Have we gotten low enough as a nation, as Christians, as a church, as a family?
“and pray”. Jesus prayed in the evenings, in the mornings, for children, for others, and on the cross.
“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12 (KJV).
“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35 (KJV)
“and seek my face” – being in His presence. Seeking something we have lost through prayer. Have we lost His face? Have you sought His face lately? Have you gotten low to seek Him today?
“turn from their wicked ways” – sin separates us from His presence. Anything that God says is an offense is sin. Anything that has caused us to turn away from Him.
“then I will hear from heaven” – He listens when we bow low and humble ourselves.
“and will forgive their sin” – He will forgive our sins only if we ask him to do so.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (KJV)
“and will heal their land.” – He can and will heal our land only if we as a nation humbly seek His face, turn from all our wicked ways, and then He will listen and forgive our land.
