Reverence, Thanksgiving Traditions, Worship

Psalm 11824

Giving thanks with a grateful heart is not just something we do during the Thanksgiving season.  On Thursday, as we in the United States, gather with family and friends to give thanks, many of us will go around the table and name one thing we are grateful for, or at least my family will.  We also join hands and recite The Lord’s Prayer – a tradition we’ve been doing I know since I was five at my grandparents house.

Oh, if only we could stop and pause and just be thankful for one thing each and every day.   Just one thing like we waking up this morning, our spouse, our children, our family, our neighbors, friends, a job, a home, a meal, a beautiful sunshine, leaves whipping through the air, a beautiful crimson sunset, a beautiful bird, a babies smile, a child’s hug, water, that I can walk – yes some folks can’t and one day we may not be able to walk, or see, or hear and any number of things – but TODAY be grateful for all the little things which are really BIG things.  I’ve learned to be intentionally grateful every single day about so many things.

There is ALWAYS something to be thankful about no matter what life is handing us.  We may not be able to change our circumstances, but we CAN change our attitudes to attitudes of gratitudes.  I love this verse that spoke to me this morning.

1 Chronicles 2913

Even in the hard times, Lord, help me remain thankful. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Thankful for God’s abundant grace and mercy as he continues to work in my life.

Let’s be aware of of what we have today and not what we do not have.
