MARCH GOALS AND FEBRUARY UPDATE

29 Mar

Haute Chocolate Photo.png

I  thought January zoomed by fast, but February zoomed faster and well today is March 29. The first day of Spring has past.  We’ve had our first hail storm.  Many in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area had golf ball and baseball hail, including our niece so it has been a rough start to Spring,  last night  some horrible wind damage to some homes north of Dallas.  I love Spring, but this is the one thing that makes Spring in Texas rough.

Here I am today just now talking about March goals, reviewing February and yes behind.  Hoping I get April planned out just a little bit earlier.  I have not even taken the time to evaluate how March was going so today may be a shocker.

Since my last post I’ve become a Nana three more times.  I have three week old twin grandsons and a new granddaughter who is two weeks old, and this week I am sitting in a hotel with the pleasure of watching her while he mommy had to go to work to help with an evaluation at the college where she works with a team that was coming in to review them.  Now that’s my kind of life!  Cuddling and not worrying about housework or cooking or even substitute teaching.  A nice break from it all and who cares about goals?  Hmmmmm well I do, but not more than babies and family.

FAITH GOALS

In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul..png

FEBRUARY

Continue my Bibles Studies from January – Finding I AM and 1 Peter – A Living Hope.  Done.

Continue First Five App.  Done.

MARCH

Begin Listen, Love, Repeat Bible Study by Karen Ehman.  It’s not to late to join us.  The study starts on Monday, April 3.  Sign-ups are here  You can do the study right there on the blog 24/7, but we also have small groups.  They fill up fast so if you are interested click here and see if that is still an option.

First 5 App Daily Devotionals  – Stay caught up on my First 5 daily devotionals.  I highly recommend the Proverbs 31 First 5 App for a daily devotional.  They have a book for each Bible  study, but it is not required – takes the devotional into a little more depth and so inspiring.  I do both, but if you aren’t in to really digging in then I would suggest you download the app for your first five minutes of the day to spend some alone time with Him.  You can check it out here and see a sample of today’s devotional.

FAMILY GOALS

Is that not a house-full of love?  These are truly grandchildren that the Lord has given to us, His servants.  Miscarriages, infertility and years of waiting BUT see what the Lord can do as we stay faithful and pray.  Four boys and one girl all three and under.  JOY unspeakable!!

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.-2.png

FEBRUARY

Special Day with grandson, Colt.  Not sure what it will be, and will depend on the weather.  Done – we went to a new wooden park as he calls it.  Stopped at McDonald’s first and picked up lunch.

Lunch with my daughter.  Done.  We had a great lunch together as always with my two-year old grandson climbing under the table.  So much fun having burgers, and doing a little shopping.

MARCH

I am going to say March is DONE because there has been a whole lot of family time with three new grand babies.   I have been running my daughter places until she could drive.  Kept the toddler while my son took my DIL for her post delivery check, and then went with my DIL to have the twins PKU test, and their post birth check with their pediatrician and then we had lunch together.  Ran my daughter to Sprouts last week and then drove the new baby and toddler around while she shopped for shoes and then we had another lunch together with the toddler dancing in the booth.  On Saturday a week ago we kept the twins while the kids took the 3 year old to Disney on Ice, and then the other kids came over and well I forgot to snap a picture of all five grand babies here for the first time, but I do have a great one the kids took.  March is not over and this last week I am here at the hotel being treated by the kids for staying here keeping our only grand daughter.  FUN, FUN, month and it isn’t over.

HEALTH GOALS

Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak_ for your work shall be rewarded.-2.png

FEBRUARY

Walking – Treadmill and in our neighborhood at least 1 hour a week.  Still some catching up but doing well.  Been on two walks with one of my grandsons, two by myself and tonight on the treadmill.   Small steps are good.    I made several new recipes.  One of them was called Philly Cheese Steak Casserole.  YUM!   I’ve had a protein shake almost every morning during the month of January and now into February.  DONE

MARCH

My March goals have not been so good mainly because I fell and could not exercise.  For two weeks there was so much pain in my leg, my shoulder, my breast area, neck and head.  Yep it was a very hard fall but nothing broken and today I am a lot better.  I put the baby in a stroller yesterday and we went walking to a shopping area.  May try that again today or take her down to the gym here while she is sleeping and get on one of those fancy machines.  Still doing well on our diet making small changes like more yogurt, salads, healthy muffins, etc..

FRIEND GOALS

July Goals and June Recap

July Goals and June Recap-3

FAITH GOALS

JUNE:

Pray More Worry Less – I’ve done well praying more and really not worrying.  I have  peace because I know God is doing some mighty things in our family right now.  I can’t wait to share how God is going to show us His glory just as He said in John 11:4 to Lazarus’ sisters “for the glory of God, so that the son of God may be glorified by it.”

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.                                                                                                                                         Psalm 30:11 (NIV)

Five-Minute Daily Devotion on Acts – First-Five App – Stay caught up and not get behind. Finish Acts and begin Numbers on June 6th.  Oops it is June 6th today.  (It’s June 15th.  I’m just trying to finish this up,  and I can’t write so I am already behind on Numbers and Acts had a couple of days to finish.)  (Failure – the stitches, and then food poisoning kept me behind on all my devotions.)

Begin Bible study at church on June 8 (Happy Birthday to me) – It’s called The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst.  I’ve done it before as a volunteer team leader for Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies, and I can not wait to do it with my church family. (I attended on June 8th but again I am behind because I can’t write in my workbook, and we were out-of-town today so I missed the video.)  (Failed due to stitches, food poisoning, and travel)

Begin the Bible Study The Husband Project by Kathy Lipp with Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies on June 20 –  This one has been a total success and keeping up with my husband projects.

JULY:

Pray Reverently and Fervently Every Day – Several things on our hearts right now and I’m believing God is going to do some mighty things.  I can’t wait to share.

Finish The Best Yes Bible Study at my church.

Finish The Husband Project Bible Study with Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies.

Catch up on Numbers Devotions with the First 5 App from Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies.

Start the Romans and 1 and 2 Corinthians Devotions with the First 5 App from Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies beginning July 25 – September 24.

FAMILY GOALS

From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.                                                                                                                          JOHN 1:16 (NIV)

JUNE:

Walks in the neighborhood with both the boys, and yes continue snuggling on the sofa with my husband – Total success

Mini-trip with my daughter, son-in-law and grandson –Success

Fishing Tournament with our son, daughter-in-law and grandson –  Success and our 2.5 year old grand son won 3rd place.

Family Reunion with my husband’s family.  Can’t wait –  Success

JULY:

Continue walks with the grandsons and alone, and yep a whole lot of snuggling with the husband.

Lots of swimming with whoever.

HEALTH GOALS

BloggerLovesTheKing-4

JUNE:

Wear pedometer (7,000 steps a day), Exercise 3-4 days a week, eat healthier, walk the boys at least twice and plan one week of meals.  Lose 2 pounds –   Although I got behind I’ve done well eating healthier and I am putting 10,000 steps on the pedometer and I did not lose the  2 pounds, but did not gain with all the sitting from the hurt fingers.

JULY:

Wear pedometer (moving up to 10,000 steps a day).  Exercise 3-4 days a week, eat healthier, walk the boys at least twice and plan one week of meals.  Lose 2 pounds.  Keep a log of all exercise.

Drink 4 large glasses of water.  Record it.  I recently read this article on the benefits of drinking water.    I think I would feel so much better if I drank more water instead of coffee, tea and sodas.  This cup was a gift from a friend who sells them here.

Plan and prepare healthier meals.

Exercise 20 minutes at least 3 days a week in addition to walking.  Keep a record in my planner.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.                                                                                                                                         1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV)

FRIEND GOALS

JUNE:

Be The Blessing – OK I am going out on a limb here because it is June 6th and my birthday is in two days.  This year I am 66.  It seems impossible.  I wish I was 30 and knowing all I do now, but we don’t get do overs.  Anyway two days from now if I can get it all organized I want to be a blessing and give 66 things.  I was up until 1:00 this morning making a list of 66 things and I have not been able to come up with that many, but maybe my friends and family can help.  (Did it and it was great.)  (Here is my planned post.)- I haven’t been able to write about all the wonderful things that happened.)  Would you join me on my blog post for my birthday and share how you have performed a random act of kindness.  Here is my post on that.

Lunch With Friends – I had planned to have lunch with some friends I used to work with on June 10th, but I cut my fingers on June 9th so they were still deadened and I could not drive, but I did meet up with a church friend on Wednesday this week after Bible study and have lunch.

Unplanned Friend HappeningsWe had a friend come from Louisiana to fish with my husband and son.  We got to go to lunch with him and both our kids and their families.  FUN!

JULY:

Meet one of my girl friends who I used to work with.  We are both retired and it’s been hard lately meeting up.

Have some neighbor ladies over for tea/coffee.  God’s been speaking to me about doing this for months.

HOME GOALS

JUNE:

House goals  – Total failure.   I could not do anything with my fingers.  Still not able to get out into the flower beds, but hopefully in July I’ll be able to do something.

Clean the front flower beds, mulch them and trim all fifteen azaleas –Total failure and I hesitate to keep putting this on the list, but it needs to be done so I will.  The fingers totally prevented this, and now I’m worried I’ll see that five-foot snake again.

Clean out winter clothes.  Bring summer clothes downstairs – I was able to do some of this partially, but it’s better.  Will finish in July.

Clean out make-up drawer – Failure

JULY:

I’ve added lots of things to do in July.  Eeeeek

Clean the front flower beds, mulch them and trim all fifteen azaleas.

Clean out make-up drawer.

Clean and organize kitchen pantry.

Clean seven of the kitchen drawers.

Clean and organize master bedroom closet.

June 2016 Goals and May Recap

16 Jun

june 2016 goals

WOW it is June 15th.   Trust me that old saying that the older we get, the faster time goes is true.  Not only did June get here, but the rain stopped (finally) and it is hot.

I am reading over my May goals and feel pretty good considering how busy the month was with things not on my goal list, and finishing up school with lots of subbing while teachers were using up their last vacation days.  I am excited what I did get done, and not focusing on the things I did not.  Setting goals is working, and when I miss one or two I just move them to the next month.

So here is how I fared in May with my goals, and I my planned June goals.  I feel retired again with school out and the phone not ringing to sub although it has rang at least three or four times a day with solicitors – you know the IRS, a free emergency phone system or hearing aids for the older generation like me.

I had this post almost ready to post on June 8th (my birthday), but on June 9th as I was headed to bed I broke a glass in my right hand and cut two fingers deeply and spent hours in the ER getting 15 stitches.  Needles to say I am not sure I will get those June goals accomplished because I can barely type right now, but I am leaving them in hopes I can get some of them finished.

With much excitement and anticipation for the month of June here goes:

May 2016 Goals and April Recap

4 May

May2016

Poof!  It’s May.  It’s not only May but the fourth of May, and it really does feel like the months are speeding by.  Is that as hard for you to believe as it is me?  I love this calendar our kids gave me for Christmas.  Don’t you love May?  I couldn’t wait to turn it over and see the two grandsons with me and their Mommies.

I just read over my April goals.  Some failures and many successes, but I am not a quitter, and I am continuing setting goals because it is working, and learning it is okay to maybe break some of them down into smaller increments.

We had so many wonderful things we got to do in April, that well, I didn’t ever print out my goals and watch them closely.  I think that might have helped, but I was just not at home enough, and when I was there were so many things to do to catch up around here.

So here is how I fared in April with my goals, and I am adding some May goals that are going to happen no matter WHAT.  There I said it so it WILL happen.  Right?

FAITH GOALS

Bible study

April:

Five-Minute daily devotion on Leviticus and Hebrews – First-Five App – Get caught up which will mean finishing this month and starting  new one on the book of Acts. (Done, done, done)

I am finishing I Know His Name by Wendy Blight this week, and start a Bible Study – 5 Habits of a Girl That Doesn’t Quit by Nicki Koziarz.  (Done and continuing to stay caught up because I am not going to quit now that I have Nicki’s tools.)  I had great intentions of blogging through both studies and I still haven’t finished blogging on I Know His Name.

May:

Five-Minute daily devotion on Acts – First-Five App – Stay caught up and not get behind.

Complete 5 Habits of a Girl That Doesn’t Quit.

FAMILY GOALS

April:

Walks in the neighborhood with both the boys and continue snuggling on the sofa and maybe one trip to the deer lease with our son and daughter-in-law and a trip or two to Dairy Queen with my mother-in-law, daughter-in-law and son-in-law. (No walks in the neighborhood – it continues to rain, and rain, and rain so it’s muddy out here in the country but hey May is looking promising at least this coming Thursday.  It’s raining this morning and one grandson is here but we can’t walk.) (We did get to the DQ with our son-in-law, daughter and grandson – WOOHOOO!)  (Snuggling on the sofa is no problem and one trip to the deer lease accomplished.)  (And we had the whole family over for birthday celebrations.)

May:

Walks in the neighborhood with both the boys, and yes continue snuggling on the sofa with my husband.

HEALTH GOALS

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”  1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

April:

Wear pedometer (6,000 steps a day), Exercise 3-4 days a week, walk two Thursdays in the neighborhood, plan at least two weeks of meals.  Lose 3 pounds.  (I have been successful with the pedometer, got to  push the mower twice and several days I hit 10,000 steps.  I am exercising at least 3 days a week, but the Thursday walks again were hampered by the rain.)  (I have not had the time to plan meals, and barely get to buy groceries.) (NO, I haven’t lost those 3 pounds.)

May:

Wear pedometer (7,000 steps a day), Exercise 3-4 days a week, eat healthier, walk the boys at least twice and plan one week of meals.  Lose 2 pounds.

FRIEND GOALS

Telephones

April:

Contact one friend by phone and meet one for lunch.  (Done, and we had some great friends come spend the night and several days with us in April.  Fun times.  I also had the honor of joining my daughter-in-love, her mom, grandma, and aunt on a Saturday for a relaxing lunch, and we went to see a movie together – The Mother’s Day movie.)

May:

Have lunch/coffee with a friend.

HOME GOALS

Flower Bed

April:

Finish Income Tax (Done)

Clean the front flower beds and trim azaleas.  (Keeping it simple sort of – there are at least 14 of these azaleas and the front flower beds are huge.)  (Total failure.  When I am home it’s raining or the grandsons are here, but hey there is May.  Right?)

Tidy up the office book case. (Done)

May:

Clean the front flower beds and mulch them.  Trim azaleas.

              BLOGGING GOALS

May 2016 Goals

 April –

This was the one area which I really didn’t get too much accomplished, but it’s okay.  I got a few things done.

Complete  one lesson of my  blogging course.  (Failed – too busy, and I’m not sure I can do it in May because it’s a long lesson.  I am supposed to clean up all my old blogs and getting through hundreds of them may take all summer, but you know what I’m adding it again to try, and I did start that second lesson so maybe I’ll break it down by numbers of blogs.)

Clean up the linky page.  (Started and got two days worth done, and it will also go to the May goals and may not get finished again, but two days will be an accomplishment.)

Continue to pray about where my emphasis should be.  So many questions on my heart right now as to how I should proceed.  (Still no firm answers)

May:

Lesson 2 – Blogging Course.   Review and clean-up my first 15 blogs.

Linky Page – Complete cleaning it up.

Attend Blogging Gathering with friends in Louisiana.

MARCH GOALS

2 Mar

March 2016 Goals“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”  Proverbs 19:21

I’ve set goals and failed so many times, but last year I actually posted goals for the year on my refrigerator.  Believe it or not all of them were crossed off but two, and they are part of my March goals.  So I believe if I write them down it will be a constant reminder, keeping me focused, and I will get much more accomplished this year.

I am going to work on monthly goals and maybe even some long-term goals for the year, but for now starting small with my March goals.

One thing  I want to remember though is that no matter what my goals are that they need to reflect God and whatever His intentions are for me each day.  If I don’t meet a goal it’s ok if it was directed at something He has intentionally assigned me today.  I want to keep my focus on Him so that I am not disappointed when a goal is not met.  I’ve fallen in that trap before.  I have plans and life happens, and that is what is important.

MARCH FAITH GOALS

“Draw Near to God and He will draw near to you.”  James 4:8

“Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”  Psalm 86:11

I am beginning my mornings with a five-minute daily devotion called the First Five App from Proverbs 31 Ministries.  The study started on Monday, February 29 and is on the books of  Leviticus and Hebrews.

I am finishing up a Bible study this week called Becoming More Than A Good Bible Study Girl by Lysa TerKeurst.  It’s been a great one.  I ‘ve learned how to make the Bible come alive and fallen more in love with Him, how to replace doubts and regrets and envy, learned to love who I am and all the things that God has given me, and more about prayer.  Goals –

I am beginning a study in March on the names of God.  I can’t wait.  It is called I Know His Name by Wendy Blight.

MARCH FAMILY GOALS

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.                1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)

Goals to embrace those I love and always keeping them a priority.  I want to exhalt Him in the mundane

  • Snuggle on the sofa with my husband to watch a movie at least once a week, but more  often when we can work it in.
  • One fun day a month with my 2-year old grandson to actually leave the house and go enjoy Chick-Fil-A, McDonald’s, a park, a long walk in the neighborhood, or just outside enjoying his mow-mow as he calls it.
  • Reading children’s books with both the grandsons.
  • Playing blocks and puzzles in the floor with the grandsons.
  • Dates with the family  and hopefully a sister date with my sisters since one of them has  a birthday this month.
  • Finish up legal signing of our wills.

MARCH HEALTH GOALS

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  James 1:5 (NIV)

God has been speaking to me for over a year now about my health and my weight.  I get on the band wagon and fall off constantly.  Hopefully with these monthly goals I can begin a make over.  We’ll see.  Started this morning with a green chocolate shake, and the tuna is in the refrigerator cooling and egg boiling.  If only I will ask, He will give me the wisdom to fight those temptations of food and diversions from not exercising.

  1. Cut back on sugar (Mini-goal)
  2. Cut back on diet drinks (Mini-goal)
  3. Exercise 3-4 days a week
  4. Wear pedometer – 6,000 steps a day
  5. Walk at least two Thursdays in the neighborhood with my one-year old grandson
  6.  Weekly meal planning to include healthy meals and snacks
  7.   Lose 2 pounds

MARCH FRIEND GOALS

We love because He first loved us.    1 John 4:19 (NIV)

I am embracing relationships with those I care about.

  • Start a monthly coffee at my home this month.  Did I say that?  God has been speaking to me about this for several months.  I am going to try to plan this during Spring break at school.
  • Contact one friend by phone and one by email that I haven’t talked to in awhile.

MARCH HOME GOALS

She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.  Proverbs 31:37 (NIV)

I want to exhalt Him in the mundane tasks around my house.  They are mundane but so important.  Sometimes around here my home gets  ignored because of my Bible study, watching the grandsons, subbing at school, and life when someone is sick, a death occurs, etc..  All of those come first so if you come visit my home might not be as clean or neat and tidy as yours, but my life is full of those things that really matter in the Kingdom – loving, giving and serving.

We have a huge yard – an acre and a half, lots of trees, and so many flower beds.  It is hard keeping it all done, especially controlling weeds and mowing.  I’m hoping to get ahead of it this month tackling a few things at a time.

  • Clean one flower bed a week (big goal here depending on weather)
  • Trim all the azaleas along the circular driveway
  • Deep clean office
  • Deep clean laundry room
  • Contact quilting lady
  • Have electrical wires covered by A/C unit

MARCH BLOG GOALS

Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.  Joel 1:3 (NIV)

My goal in blogging has always been to tell His story, and to leave words for future generations to know who I am and my love for Him.  This is the first time I’ve had monthly blog goals, but I attended a girls getaway weekend to talk about blogging and goals.  As we sit down on Saturday these are a few of the long-term  goals that God placed on my heart as I sit there praying, and I hope to complete this month.

  • Clean-Up side bar (Done)
  • Add a mail follow to my blog.
  • Start Blogging Course

This is a prayer I quickly wrote as I was sitting this weekend and pondering over my blogging goals for the year.

“Lord lead me at your pace.  Slow me when I get in a hurry, and nudge me when I need to speed up.”  Debbie Williams

What are your goals this month?
